Fashion show and seminar

On the 12th of July, a fashion show was organized in the staging area of the halls. Exhibitors got a chance to showcase their products through the ramp walk. On the 14th, a seminar was held in the boardroom. There were two speakers. Fashion guru, Mr Anton Dell addressed the first session on opportunities in the european market for exporters. Europe has always been a favorite export destination for Indian manufacturers. Mr Dell gave a very interesting overview of fashion trends for this year and the next. He had valuable advice for manufacturers in India. He suggested that instead of relying on OEM manufacturing, exporters should try to develop their own brand. Mr Dell emphasized the fact that with rising competition one needs to be more creative with marketing communication and the fact that it is necessary to create products that are different. He said that the world has really changed since the economic crisis and simply leveraging on cost is no longer practical. Rising labor costs in the east and rampant unemployment in the west will soon reduce the cost benefit of outsourcing and manufacturers should adapt or it would be difficult for them to survive. The second talk was given by Mr Vijay Kaushik from Ticker Plant. It was about the need to use financial hedging to minimize foreign exchange risk. It is necessary for exporters to hedge foreign exchange risk as profits can be reduced or even wiped out due to currency fluctuations.
